Clinical exercise prescription for long-term health conditions and rehabilitation. Exercise as medicine — prescribed by an accredited expert who understands your body.
Exercise physiology is the clinical application of exercise as medicine. Our accredited exercise physiologist Emily designs individualised exercise programmes for people with chronic health conditions, injuries, and those seeking to optimise their physical performance and long-term health.
Unlike a personal trainer, an exercise physiologist is a university-qualified allied health professional who can assess, diagnose, and prescribe exercise for complex health conditions — including those covered by Medicare, DVA, and private health insurance.

Unlike a personal trainer, an EP can assess, diagnose, and prescribe exercise for complex medical conditions — and is recognised by Medicare, DVA, and private health insurance.
A personal trainer focuses on fitness, weight loss, and performance for generally healthy individuals. An exercise physiologist is a registered allied health professional who works with people managing chronic conditions, recovering from injury or surgery, or dealing with complex health issues. EPs can claim Medicare, DVA, and private health rebates — personal trainers cannot.
Yes. Exercise physiology is covered under the Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, which provides up to 5 rebated sessions per year with a GP referral. DVA fully covers exercise physiology for eligible veterans. Most private health insurance funds also provide rebates under extras cover.
