Conditions We Treat
Arthritis doesn't have to mean a life of reduced activity. With the right combination of hands-on treatment and structured exercise, most people with arthritis can significantly reduce their pain and maintain an active lifestyle.
Understanding Arthritis
Arthritis is one of the most common causes of chronic pain and disability in Australia โ affecting over 3.6 million Australians. Yet many people with arthritis are told to simply rest, avoid activity, or wait for a joint replacement. The evidence tells a very different story.
Structured exercise is one of the most effective treatments for osteoarthritis โ reducing pain, improving function, and in many cases delaying or avoiding surgery altogether. Combined with hands-on treatment to manage pain and improve joint mechanics, most people with arthritis can live active, fulfilling lives.
Our team of osteopaths, myotherapists, and exercise physiologists work together to create a personalised arthritis management plan that fits your lifestyle and goals.
Types of Arthritis We Treat
The most common form, caused by gradual wear and breakdown of joint cartilage. Most commonly affects the knees, hips, spine, and hands. OA pain is often worse with activity and improves with gentle movement โ making exercise a key part of management.
An autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks the joint lining. Causes inflammation, swelling, and stiffness โ often affecting multiple joints symmetrically. Exercise physiology and myotherapy play an important role in managing RA alongside medical treatment.
Associated with the skin condition psoriasis, this form causes joint pain, stiffness, and swelling. It can affect any joint and often responds well to a combination of medical management and structured exercise.
Caused by a build-up of uric acid crystals in the joints โ most commonly the big toe, ankle, or knee. Acute flares are extremely painful. Between flares, exercise and lifestyle modification can significantly reduce recurrence.
